Abstract

The forming of pre-joined hybrid semi-finished products is an innovative manufacturing approach for designing load-adapted components. This paper focuses on the production of a hybrid pinion shaft preform made of aluminium and steel. Due to the different thermo-physical properties of the materials, challenges arise during the forming of the hybrid semi-finished products. To reduce critical tensile stresses in the joining zone, an additional pressure superposition during impact extrusion is evaluated numerically and experimentally.
