On 11 November 2021, Florian Bohne successfully completed his doctorate at IFUM with the grade "very good with distinction".
In his dissertation entitled: „Lagrange Methoden für die numerische Abbildung von gekoppelten Drapier- und Fließpressprozessen“ Florian Bohne investigated possibilities for the numerical modelling of drape and extrusion processes for organic sheets in combination with glass mat reinforced thermoplastics (GMT).
The aim of the work was to determine the material properties for organic sheets as well as for GMT materials and to use them for the numerical modelling of a coupled draping and extrusion process. Florian Bohne succeeded in numerically modelling the coupled process by using the finite element method for the organic sheet and the smooth particle hydrodynamics method for the GMT. During his time as a research assistant at IFUM, Florian Bohne also successfully worked on other research projects on the numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes. In addition, Florian Bohne took over the supervision of teaching for a long time.
The IFUM congratulates Florian Bohne and wishes him all the best in the future!
