On 23 July 2021, Alexander Chugreev successfully completed his doctorate at IFUM with the grade "very good with distinction".
In his thesis "Numerical and experimental investigations for the simulation of a rotational friction welding processes", Mr Chugreev investigated the friction welding of steel-steel joints.
The aim of the work was to improve the numerical simulation of rotational friction welding processes, by modelling the thermo-mechanical-metallurgical effects. The simulation results were validated using friction-welded solid and hollow shaft joints. During his time as a research associate at IFUM, Mr Chugreev successfully worked on research projects on the simulation of solid forming processes, using specially adapted calculation methods and headed the Material Characterisation and Simulation department.
The IFUM congratulates Mr. Chugreev and wishes him all the best in the future!
