SMALL LABORATORY WORK AT THE IFUM: METROLOGICAL RECORDING AND DETERMINATION OF FORMING PARAMETERS IN HOT FORGING

Measuring and evaluating of process variables is indispensable for the design and monitoring of forming processes nowadays. In particular hot forging poses major challenges for measuring technology. First part in the Experimental Seminar at IFUM is the transfer of basics concerning forming technology. Various materials are formed and various process variables are recorded during the following experimental processes. The results are used to determine relevant characteristic values of the forming process in a subsequent elaboration.

The preparation script will be made available in the Stud.IP course. After a short pre-test the experiments are explained by the supervisors and carried out in close cooperation with them. Using the measured values recorded during the experimental processes the students create test protocols to be submitted after a defined period of time.
